Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hindes and daughter, Betty Jane, and Miss Geraldine Niellson of Minong arrived Saturday to spend their spring vacations at the Wuethrich and Drummond homes.

John Wuethrich spent Monday and Tuesday at Madison on business. He was accompanied by Axel Sorenson of Withee.

The examination of the senior catechumen class of the West Side Immanuel Reformed church was held Sunday. On Good Friday services will be held at 10:30 a.m., in both the German and English languages, at which time the following will be confirmed by the pastor, the Rev. P. H. Franzmeier; Ruth Moldenhauer, Eileen Kuehn, Gladys Kuester, Gerald Goeke, Irvin Humke, Calvin Awe, Kenneth Hium and Paul Kippenhan. There will be special musical numbers by the choir and by the senior and junior confirmations classes. On Easter Sunday services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the German and English Languages with Holy Communion.

The following visited Fred Timmler at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Humke, Mr. and Mrs. William Steiger, Mr. and MRs. Willard Stafford and son, Ronald, and Mr. and Mrs. George Humke of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Timmler of Neillsville, and Mrs. Francis Schweinler and family and Herbert Humke of Mosinee.

Mrs. Palmer Vinger was an Eau Claire visited Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Stafford spent the weekend visiting relatives at Drummond.

Mrs. George Speich was a Neillsville visitor Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. William Dallman and H. M. Bergemann spent Sunday at their cabin at Phillips. Mrs. Bergemann and daughter, Joan, spent the day visiting relatives at Loyal.

Frank Chute has sold his 60-acre farm, west of Greenwood, to James Cornell of Chicago. The deal was made through Palmer Vinger.

Officers elected for the Ladies’ Aid Society of the Trinity Lutheran Church for 1939 are: Mrs. George Hellman, president; Mrs. Henry Schendel, vice-president, and Mrs. Leonard Jensen, secretary-treasurer.

The Greenwood band parents sponsored a benefit entertainment in the high school gymnasium last Thursday. The main feature was a one-act play, “Last Daze of School,” presented by members of the Christopherson school district.

The American Legion auxiliary met in the Legion Hall Tuesday evening. Hostesses were Mrs. C. A. Mason, Mrs. Christina Moberg and Miss Louis Keiner.

The fire department was called out at 10 o’clock Monday morning to extinguish a fire at Ed Michel’s home. It is believed that a spark from the chimney caught fire to the wood shingles on the roof of the east side of the house, although there was no chimney fire. Children at the parochial school noticed the blaze. The loss which was confined to the roof is covered by insurance.

Friends and neighbors came with well filled baskets Tuesday afternoon, March 28, to help Mrs. Carl Nelson celebrate her birthday. A delicious lunch and a pleasant afternoon were enjoyed by all.

Mrs. Robert Funke and son, Tommy, and daughter, Nancy, of New Holstein arrived Sunday for a week’s visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Amundson.
