Lauretta Mielke

Lauretta Mielke, 97, Marshfield, formerly of Colby, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at Marshfield Care Center Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer. The Rev. Karl Rose will preside. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Thursday.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

She was born June 4, 1909 in the town of Kewaskum, Washington, County, to Oscar and Clara (Raether) Habeck.

In 1914 she moved with her parents to Spencer and in 1917 they move to a farm East of Unity. She attended school in Spencer and the Town of Brighton. She was a house-keeper in Milwaukee and on Oct. 4, 1932, she and Anthony Zittler were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer. They farmed East of Unity until the spring of 1941 when they moved to a farm East of Colby. In 1953 they move to Colby where she worked at the hardware store and Bezak Shoe Store in Abbotsford. Anthony preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1965.

Lauretta and Otto Mielke were married in 1969. He died June 2, 1995.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Sewing Circle.

Mrs. Mielke is survived by her children, Mary Hinkelmann, Spencer; Jan (Dave) Fitzsimmons, Streator, Ill., and George (Maxine) Zettler, Burlington; two grandchildren; two sister, Delores Justman, Spencer and Beverly (Ken) Kannenberg, Oshkosh; and one brother, John Habeck, Blanchard, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Anthony and Otto; two sons, Ronald and Kenneth; one granddaughter, Holly; six brothers and one sister.
