Obit: Hubler, Maria (1842 – 1929)
Surnames: HUBLER GREUB Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 02/16/1929 --------- Hubler, Maria (18 DEC 1842 – 8 FEB 1929) Mrs. Maria Hubler, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Greub, was born Dec. 18, 1842, at Lotzville, Canton Berne, Switzerland. There, on July 14, 1882, she was united in holy wedlock with Mr. John Hubler, and the following year came to America to make their home. Mr. Hubler was a cheesemaker, and while he followed that trade they lived at Oshkosh, Monroe, and Alma. After he retired from that occupation, they lived for a number of years at South Wayne. About seventeen years ago, due to advancing age, these people came to live with their nephew and family, John Greub, on his farm west of town, a new house being erected for their home. After the death of the husband, which occurred on March 8, 1917, Mrs. Hubler became a member of the Greub household, coming with them when they moved to the village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.). She had enjoyed good health until a few weeks ago, when she was taken ill, and passed peacefully to her Eternal Home in the early morning of Feb. 8th, 1929, aged 86 years, 1 month and 20 days. Of the near relatives to mourn her death, is an adopted son, her nephew, John Greub, Sr., and his family, and a brother-in-law whose home is in Grant County. The funeral was held at the Reformed Church Monday afternoon, Rev. E.F. Menger officiating, and burial was made beside her husband in Mentor Cemetery. |
