--------- Hart, Norman/Mae (Gold – 25 SEP 1927)

Looking forward fifty years from Sept. 25, 1877, Mr. Norman Hart and Miss Mae Garfield, two happy young people of Castleton, Ontario, Canada, in their late teens, as they stood before the rector in the neighboring city of Colbourn, pledging the vows which united them for their life’s journey, probably did not picture in their minds the joyous golden anniversary to be celebrated in Humbird, Clark Co., Wisconsin, on Sept. 25, 1927. But the event came, and it was joyously celebrated.

Opening their home in this village last Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 7:00 o’clock, Mr. and Mrs. Hart received their friends, and although the day was unpleasant, many called to offer congratulations. And many appropriate gifts accompanied these congratulations. From the Excelsior Club came golden candlesticks, and from others gifts equally as nice. The home was appropriately decorated for the event. At the dinner table, streamers from the seats of honor to a golden bell in the center brought gifts of $50 in gold from the children.

This worthy couple has been blessed with a happy family of children and a generous portion of worldly goods. All but one member of the family was present at this anniversary, Chas. W. of Marshfield, Mrs. Anna Perry and son Clarence of Chicago, Harry and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bone of Evansville, Miss., Ivis of Elgin, Ill., and Mrs. Alice Boyden of New York. George Heart and family, and Fred Hart and wife of Granton, brothers of Mr. Hart, were also present.

Mr. and Mrs. Hart have resided in the vicinity since 1885, on the farm for fifteen years, and after 1900 in the village. They have a circle of friends that are numbered only by their acquaintances, and they are happy now in the thought that the best wishes of all these are their for many more wedding anniversaries.
