(Thursday, September 27, 1888) The cattle fair, last Saturday, was not a rip-roaring success neither was it a complete failure, it was rather a sort of a betwixt and between. It is was taken into consideration that the only publicity the matter had was a short item in THE PHONOGRAPH three weeks ago.

It will be seen that it can fairly be called a success, as there were from twelve to fifteen head of stock on exhibition. We did not learn of any sales neither were there many buyers on the ground, but let it once be understood that this will be a permanent thing and both buyers and stock will be here. It had been determined to make this a permanent thing and will be held on the third Saturday of each month. Good secure places for trying stock will be arranged and everybody invited to bring in some stock for exhibition whether they desire to sell or not.

(Thursday, September 27, 1888) Prof. Geo. Bach leader of the famous “Bach Band,” of Milwaukee, was in town last Saturday, between trains. While here Mr. Bach heard a portion of the band play and remarked “They keep better time and play with more harmony than the average country band.”

Mr. Bach further said that he had heard the same number of pieces form a Wausau band that did not do so well.

The Prof. has promised to bring several members of his band and give a concert here the last week in October, at the time of the Catholic, fair.
