----- Buker, Bertha (16 JUN 1909)

John Steiger and Miss Bertha Buker were married at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Henry Decker, last Wednesday evening, June 16th, 1909, at half past eight, Rev. Otto Saewert of the German Reformed Church of the West Side performing the ceremony.

The wedding was a very quiet affair, only relatives being present. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Alma Humke, and the groom by his brother, Willie Steiger.

The happy couple were the recipients of numerous wedding presents both useful and ornamental.

After the ceremony the bridal party and guests partook of a sumptuous wedding supper.

The young couple went to housekeeping at once in A.F. Sheets’ house on the east side of town (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.), formerly the Langley house.

Mr. and Mrs. Steiger are well known here and on the West Side where they have spent most of their lives. The bride is a daughter of Fred Buker of the West Side. She is a young lady of estimable character and has a host of friends who wish her happiness in her new home. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Steiger of the West Side. He became a member of the firm of Rossman Steiger Co., general merchants of this city several months ago when the Fricke Rossman Co. was reorganized. He is a hard working young man and deserving of success in his chosen work. His many friends wish him and his bride a long and happy wedded life.
