----Billerbeck, William (10 March 1850 – 14 May 1931)

William Billerbeck was born March 10, 1850 at Freeport, Ill., and passed away May 14, 1931, at the one of his daughter in Garden Valley, of pneumonia.

He spent his youth at Freeport, going from there to Buffalo county, where he met Miss Julia Jahn, whom he married in 1878. Four children were born to this union: August and Myrtle, of Enterprise, Oregon; Frank, of Couer d”Alene, Idaho; and Lillie, of Garden Valley. He spent the greater part of his life farming in Wisconsin, and for a few years he worked in Minneapolis. The past two and a half years were spent with relatives in the west, returning to Wisconsin in February, where failing health soon claimed him.

His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. He leaves besides his children, two brothers, Frank of Sprindgale, and Leonard, of Spokane, Wash: seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; besides numerous other relatives; and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss his jovial smile and kindly greetings. He was of a kind and generous although somewhat of a retired nature, always ready and willing to help a friend or neighbor when possible.

His last illness was of short duration, being ill only five days, when he was called to the Great Beyond.

Funeral was held Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m., at the Ringrose home, Rev. E. A. Wolfe officiating. The singers sang several selections among them that beautiful song – We are going down the Valley one by one, also Some day we’ll understand; There were many beautiful floral offerings.

He was laid to rest in the Curtiss cemetery. Those from away to attend the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. Helaburg and Mrs. Lambert, of Minneapolis, and Will Billerbeck and two daughters, of Plover.
