Surnames: YOUNG VERHALEN WEBER --------- The Loyal Tribune 25 November 1937 --------- Young, Edith M. (20 NOV 1937) At a quiet ceremony at eleven o’clock Saturday morning Miss Edith M. Young, Milwaukee and Edgar Verhalen, Caledonia were united in marriage by the Rev. Grasser at his parsonage in Milwaukee. The bride, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Young, Loyal chose a dubonnet crepe with white satin at the neckline for her wedding dress. She wore a black veiled turban and black accessories. Her shoulder bouquet combined tea rose with white mums. The groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Verhalen, Caledonia, is well known in this vicinity, having lived near Spokeville for many tears. Mrs. Milton Weber and Elden Verhalen, Milwaukee, sister and brother of the groom, were the couple’s only attendants. Mrs. Weber was attired in a figured crepe dress with black accessories. Her corsage was similar to that of the bride. Both the groom and his attendant wore dark brown suits with boutonnieres of tea roses. Immediately after the ceremony a luncheon was served at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Clouse, 1390 W. Fond du Lac St. Milwaukee. After the luncheon the young couple left for Loyal where they are visiting thr bride’s parents and other relatives. They intend to leave for Minnesota and other points of interest. A pre-nuptial shower was given by friends for the bride in Milwaukee. Mrs. Verhalen is a graduate of the Loyal High School with the class of ’34. She has been employed in Milwaukee for the past year. Mr. Verhalen and his beautiful bride will be at home to friends on the farm of his parents near Caledonia after January 1st.
