Thurs., 12 Oct. 1939 Poler, Evelyn (Marriage – 14 Oct. 1939) Miss Evelyn Poler of Eau Claire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Poler of Granton, became the bride of Milton Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Strum, at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, the Rev. Wichman performing the double-ring ceremony at the Lutheran parsonage in Eleva, Wis. The bride was lovely in a floor length white satin gown, patterned on princess lines with a row of small buttons down the back and long tight sleeves coming to a point over the hands. Her finger-tip veil, cap effect, was in place with rose buds. She carried an arm bouquet of white roses. The couple was attended by Miss Elaine Poler, the bride’s sister, and Hiram Johnson, brother of the groom. The bridesmaid was attired in a floor-length turquoise blue gown and carried pink roses. The bride attended school at Watertown and has been employed at various places. She has been employed at Eau Claire the past year. For several weeks she had her sister, Elaine, have also sung over radio station WEAU at Eau Claire, three 15-minutes programs a week. The groom wore a dark pencil stripe suite with a white rose boutonnier, and his attendant also wore a similar suit with a pink rose boutonnier. A reception was held for the bridal couple at the home of the bride’s parents Saturday evening, at which a lovely 6 o’clock dinner was served to 45 guests. The rooms were beautifully decorated with wedding bells and blue and white streamers. The centerpiece for the table was a lovely wedding cake and the bride’s bouquet. After the reception the bridal couple left on a short honeymoon to Watertown and Madison. For going away the bride selected a black pencil stripe suit, with rust accessories. They will reside in Eau Claire, where the groom has employment. Out of town guests attending the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sletten and son of Eau Claire, ***Rest cut off. ***
