Sample, Helen (25 JUN 1935)

On Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd W. Sample, a pretty wedding was solemnized in the presence of immediate friends and relatives when their daughter, Helen, became the bride of Donald Horn, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Horn of Colby.

The ceremony took place in front of the bay window which was banked with ferns, peonies and roses.

The attendants were Miss Kathryn Haas, maid of honor; Miss Virginia Swanson, bridesmaid; and Price Proctor, nephew of the bride, acted as ring bearer. The groom was attended by Noel Schilling of Colby, as best man, and Hug Cullen of Janesville, brother of the bride, as groomsman. The minister, Rev. E.H. Delware, was a college friend of the groom.

The bride chose for her wedding gown a floor length dress of white French embroidered organdy with a wide satin sash. With it she wore a white tulle veil turban and white accessories. Her bouquet was a shower of white roses and lilies of the valley tied with tulle. She carried her mother’s wedding handkerchief of lace.

The maid of honor was gowned in pink organdy and the bridesmaid in yellow organdy and the bridesmaid in yellow organdy, both with white accessories. They carried arm bouquets of blue delphiniums and sweet peas. The ring-bearer, dressed in a white Eton suit, carried the ring in a white cala lily.

After the ceremony a two course luncheon was served, Mrs. Forest Proctor, sister of the bride, being in charge.

The young couple left that evening for Oshkosh, where they will make their future home.

Two pre-nuptial showers in honor of the bride were given by Miss Virginia Swanson, and Mrs. Ed Fredrick and Mrs. Ed Petke.
