The 34th wedding anniversary of the bride’s parents was chosen by Miss Bethel Charlotte Stafford, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), and James Ival Stevens, Town of Loyal, for the day of their wedding, which was solemnized Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3, 1941, at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Alex J. Abbot performed the ceremony at 2 o’clock.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Stafford, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. W.C. Hammer. The occasion was also the birthday anniversary of the bride’s mother.

Two vocal selections, “O Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly,” were presented by Misses Margaret and Gloria Thorson and Elaine Belter, accompanied at the piano by Miss Marie Johnson, who also played the wedding march.

White slipper satin, designed with a long fitted bodice and seeping skirt, was worn by the bride, who long, trailing veil was caught on the top of her head with flowers, arranged in halo effect, to match her arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums. And pink tea roses. Her only jewelry was a cameo locket, a gift of the bridegroom.

Miss Esther Hammer, half sister of the bridegroom, attended as maid of honor, wearing a floor length gown of cadet blue satin, fashioned with lace insets in redingote effect. Miss Florine Schroeder, bridesmaid, was attired in a dress identical to the maid of honor’s. Both wore wrist corsages of white chrysanthemums and pink tea roses. Their blue shoulder length veils were held in place by halo headdresses of flowers.

Lyle Stafford, brother of the bride, was best man, and Roman Seidelman attended Mr. Stevens as groomsman.

Blue, pink and white streamers decorated the home of the bride’s parents for the wedding luncheon which was served immediately after the ceremony. A large wedding cake decorated the bridal table, over which was suspended a large white wedding bell.

Guests from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stafford and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rodgers, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cummings and family, Bancroft; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Churkey and family, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Perry and family and Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Siems and family, Neillsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Owens and family, Marshfield.

Mr. Stevens and his bride will make their home on route , Greenwood. The bridegroom is temporarily employed on his parents farm.
