Thurs., 7 March 1940 ----D’Amato, Esther Jeannette (Marriage – 29 Feb. 1940) In a lovely candlelight service at the Methodist church, Waukesha, at 4:30 Thursday, February 29, Miss Esther Jeannette D’Amato, 116 Dunbar Ave., and Ralph L. Winn, also of the city, son of Mrs. Mae Winn, Granton, were married. The church was adorned with ferns, and tall white lighted tapers in candelabra. Mrs. C. W. Paulsen, church organist, played the Bridal Chorus from “Lohengrin” and Mendelssohn’s wedding March. During the ceremony which was performed by the pastor, Rev. W. Perry Hulen, organ solos were played softly. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in an afternoon frock of dusty pink crepe in redingote fashion with picture hat and shoulder veil of matching hue. Her accessories were of beige and brown combination and she wore a three-strand string of pearls, a gift from the groom. She carried tinted gardenias and sweetheart roses. Miss Margaret Mallum, Waukesha, wearing a baby blue crepe afternoon frock and navy blue accessories, was maid of honor. Her hat matched her dress and her corsage was of roses. The bride’s mother wore navy blue and the groom’s mother was attired in lighter blue. Both wore corsages of sweetheart roses and sweet peas. Lawrence D’Amato, brother of the bride, was best man and the ushers were: Frank D’Amato, another brother of the bride, and Ronald Winn, Waukesha, the groom’s brother. About 100 guests attended the service. A reception at the bride’s home later was followed by dinner at 6 p.m. at the Spa for immediate relatives. After a few days’ wedding trip, the couple will reside in an apartment at 723 Marshall St. The bride is a graduate of Waukesha high school and is employed at the Boston store, Milwaukee. The groom, a graduate of Granton high school, is employed at the Wisconsin Industrial School for Boys. |
