----- Quast, Joseph (3 AUG 1857 – 22 MAR 1942)

Joseph Quast, 84, died at his home here (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday morning at 8:10 o’clock of a heart attack. He had been ill for several years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here. The Rev. J.J. Novak, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Quast was born in Jefferson County Aug. 3, 1857, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Quast, and was married to Miss Caroline Fischer at St. John’s Catholic Church there on July 3, 1888. Until 1907 they resided at Jefferson, and then moved to Clark County, where they settled on a farm south of Greenwood. In 1917 they moved to the city, where they had lived since.

On July 3, 1938, Mr. and Mrs. Quast observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Quast was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served as trustee. He also was affiliated with the Holy Name Society and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. While in Jefferson he served as county treasurer.

Surviving besides his wife, are two sons, Hugo, Granton, and John, Milwaukee; four daughters, Mrs. Linus (Agnes) Prock, Globe; Mrs. Robert (Esther) Kinnear, Mrs. August (Edna) DeKennen, Mrs. John (Florence) Pauly, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, George and Henry, Milwaukee.

Two children, Joseph and Mary, preceded him in death.
