(15 JUL 1945) Miss Ethel Edith Severson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Severson of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Pfc Ralph Leroy Tomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Thomas, in a nuptial ceremony read in the Grace Methodist Church at Greenwood July 15, 1945 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Alex J. Abbott officiated at the double ring ceremony. Soloist was Miss Anne Huntzicker who sang “O Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly,” accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Meng. The altar was decorated with bouquets of white roses, sweet peas, and carnations. For her wedding the bride chose a formal gown of white satin and net. Her veil of illusion was fingertip length and she carried white roses and sweet peas. Mrs. Harold Heck, Neillsville, a sister of the bride, in a blue net frock and matching headdress, served as matron of honor, while another sister, Alice, in blue net, and Miss Helen Thomas, sister of the groom, in a similar dress and headband of peach net, were bridesmaids. Both carried white and pink carnations. The matron of honor held an arrangement of pink roses, sweet peas, and baby breath. Dale Thomas was his brother’s best man, while Harold Heck and Harry Lind were groomsmen. Following the ceremony covers were laid for 40 guests for supper at the Severson home. Bouquets of pink roses added to the décor. Mrs. Thomas graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of ’45. Her husband is in military service. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heck and son, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Vaner Lindgren, Owen; Miss Alice Severson, Minneapolis. |
