----- Elmer, Edna M. (21 JUL 1945)

Miss Edna Marian Elmer, daughter of Mrs. Anna Elmer, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), exchanged wedding vows with Staff Sgt Oril H. Swieso, son of Mrs. Alice Swieso, Rockford, Ill., before the altar of the Trondhjem Lutheran Church at Greenwood, July 21, 1945, at 3 p.m. The Rev. M.K. Aaberg officiated. During the ceremony Ann Huntzicker and Anita Heilman sang “O Promise Me” and “I Love Your Truly,” accompanied by Mrs. Herbert Schwarze.

For her wedding the bride wore a white taffeta frock with an entrained overskirt of net and a beaded crown held her fingertip veil of illusion. She carried red roses. Her sister, Miss Estelle Elmer, in a long blue net over white taffeta frock and matching blusher veil and flowered headdress, was maid of honor. Her flowers were an arrangement of roses, carnations and bachelor buttons. Henry Borkawski, brother-in-law of the bride, gave her in marriage.

Pfc. Orin Swieso was his twin brother’s best man.

The colors of the frocks of the wedding party were repeated in the streamers which trimmed the Elmer home where supper was served to 50 guests after the ceremony. Bouquets of flowers added to the décor and two large wedding cakes centered the table. Mrs. W.I. Wells, Mrs. Clarence Verhulst and Miss Ruth Turnquist were in charge of supper. That evening a wedding dance was held at Jacksons.

Mrs. Swieso was graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1943 and has been employed by Eversharp Inc., in Chicago, for the past year. Sgt. Swieso, a graduate of the Loyal High School with the class of 1939, is now home on furlough after returning to the States from service in the European Theater of Operations. They expect to leave this week end for Chicago where they will reside until the groom reports for reassignment.

Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Borkawski and son, Richard, and Misses Vera and Estelle Elmer, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Owen Swieso and family, Clinton; Mrs. Myrtle Anderson and daughter, Cadott; Mrs. Alice Swieso, Rockford, Ill.; and Miss Virginia Colby, Wausau.
