Two young people of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) exchanged marriage vows in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in that community, May 3, 1947, at 9 a.m. They are Miss Marian Denk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Denk, and Harold Lyon, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Lyon. The Rev John Novak performed the nuptial mass.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white Japanese silk gown made with a fitted bodice, featuring a sheer yoke edged with a double row of sequins to accentuate the off-shoulder effect of the sleeves. The full skirt, trimmed with Chantilly lace, was gathered to a low waistline, and swept into a long train. A crown of seed pearls held her fingertip veil of illusion and she wore her mother’s necklace. She carried white carnations and red roses and a white pearl rosary, a gift from the bridegroom.

Her sister, Miss Dorothy Denk, as maid of honor, and Miss Helen Childs, Marshfield, bridesmaid, wore yellow and blue net and taffeta gowns, styled like the bride’s. Mrs. Denk made all three frocks for her daughter’s wedding. Matching net headdresses studded with sequins and shoulder corsages of yellow and white carnations completed their attire.

Mrs. Denk wore a pink and black ensemble and the bridegroom’s mother was attired in a powder blue suit and white accessories. Both had corsages of spring flowers.

Bernard Denk and William Denk Jr., brothers of the bride, attended the groom.

Following the ceremony a dinner and a reception for the many guests were held at the Denk home. That evening a dance was given at Merry Ol’ Gardens.

When the bride left on her honeymoon she was wearing a black gabardine suit and a corsage of gardenias. After a two week wedding trip in northern Wisconsin they will live in the Kuester apartments at Greenwood. Mr. Lyon, like his bride, attended the Greenwood High School. He matriculated at Central State Teachers College before entering the Marine Corps where she served for three years. At the present time he is in business in the Merry Ol’ Gardens dance hall. Mrs. Lyon is a singer with Emil and his Band.
