Obit: Harms, Jessie Prudence (1866 - 1923)
Surnames: Harms, Capes, Allen, Tromley, Scott, Taylor, Miller, Nicholson Harms, Jessie (17 July 1866 - 4 Oct. 1923) Mrs. Jessie P. Harms, wife of Robert Harms, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse E. Capes, Thursday evening at five-thirty p.m., October 4, 1923, at the age of fifty seven years, two months and seventeen days. She was the daughter of Dr. Joel Allen and Emily Tromley Allen, who have preceded her in death. She was born July 17, 1866 near Minonk, Illinois. She was the youngest daughter in a family of seven children. Two brothers have gone before, three sisters and one brother still survive: Mrs. Lydia A. Scott of Rensselaer, Indiana, Mrs. Laura B. Taylor of Portland, Oregon, Miss Gertrude Allen and Wayne L. Allen of Chicago. She was united in marriage to Robert Harms, January 26, 1887, at Graymont, Illinois. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, seven children and ten grandchildren. Her children are: Allen B. Harms of Brook, Indiana, Mrs. Emils S. Miller of Ruleton, Kansas, Fern T. Harms of Withee, Wisconsin, Clarence B. Harms of Goodland, Indiana, Mrs. Iva E. Capes of Greenwood, Wisconsin, Ollen G. Harms of Chicago and Mrs. Edna Nicholson of Burlington, Wyoming. Her childhood and early married life was spent in Illinois. In 1907, she moved with her family to Indiana. In 1917, they moved to Wisconsin, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Goodland, Indiana. Her illness, which finally resulted in her death, extended over a long period of years. She endured her suffering patiently and cheerfully, always looking on the hopeful side and meeting life with faith and courage. In her passing there is lost a true and faithful wife and a kind and loving mother. The relatives attending the funeral from away were: Miss Maud E. Scott of Chicago, Allen B. Harms of Brook, Indiana, Clarence B. Harms of Goodland, Indiana and Ollen G. Harms of Chicago. * * * * There is a typo in the obituary section under Robert Harms. He was married to Jessie Prudence Allen not Jessie PULLEN. |
