Thurs., 13 June 1940 -----Sharratt, Mr./Mrs. Ezra (40th – 1940) From 40 to 45 friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Scharratt in the town of Washburn June 5 to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. The evening was spent in playing 500, with women’s prizes going to Mrs. Walter Larsen and Mrs. Clyde Oens; men’s prizes to Soren Larsen and William Adams; and the traveling prize going to Albert Schecklman of York. Refreshments were served. Out-of-town friends present included Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dorst of Greenwood, and Miss Nellie Peters of Chili. Residents of Clark County, and the town of Washburn for the last 32 years, Mr. and Mrs. Sharratt were united in marriage on June 5, 1900, at Fond du Lac, the childhood home of Mrs. Sharratt. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dyer, and was born in Fond du Lac January 24, 1874. Mr. Sharratt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sharratt, was born December 30, 1874, in El Dorado (Fond du Lac County). Following their marriage the couple moved to Marshall, Minn., where they remained eight years before locating in Washburn Township, Clark County. Mr. Sharratt served for a number of years as Clerk of the town, and was chairman of the town for one term. Mrs. Sharratt is a charter member of the Cannonville Ladies’ Aid society, and last year was made an honorary member of the society. The couple has five children and four grandchildren. The children are: Roland, at home; Francis, Des Moines, Ia.; Valera, Chicago; Gordon, Neillsville; and Mrs. Genevieve Schecklman, town of York. The grandchildren are; Anna Jane, Billy and Jackie Sharratt, children of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sharratt; and Mercedes Sharratt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sharratt. Francis and Valera were unable to attend the celebration. |
