David Grether in Charge of Service Attired in a street length frock of winter white gabardine adorned with green accented with green accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white pompons Mrs. Jean Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook of Marathon exchanged nuptial vows with Harold Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gardner of the town of Loyal Christmas afternoon Dec. 25. The ceremony was performed at St. John’s Reformed church at Colby with the Rev. David Grether officiating. The bride’s only attendant Mrs. Letea Gardner, of town of Loyal, sister of the bridegroom wore a soldier blue crepe dress with black accessories and had a corsage of yellow roses and white pompons. Seaman (missing) Donald Cook, a brother of the bride who was home on leave from the New Orleans, La.; naval station, attended as best man. A wedding dinner with covers for 24 was served at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated for the event with streamers of pink and white. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Cook, and Mr. and Mrs. William Loughead and son, Billy of Colby, Harold Kollsmansburger and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gardner and daughters. Loren and Velma, and son, Vern of Loyal and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Summers and daughter Barbara of Owen were out of town guests. The couple will reside on a farm near Loyal and are now at home to friends. |
