BioM: Mondloch, Doris (1949)
Surnames: MONDLOCH MARTENS SCHMITZ ----- Source: : Marshfield News Herald (Marshfield, Wis.) 09/??/1949 ----- Mondloch, Doris (10 SEP 1949) Now at home to friends on a farm near Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martens, whose marriage was solemnized at 9 a.m. Sept. 10, 1949, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer, by the Rev. Bernard Henry. Twin brothers of the groom were servers at the solemn High Mass. The bride, the former Miss Doris Mondloch of Marshfield, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Math Mondloch, Spencer, and the groom is a son of Mrs. Sophie Martens, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). Attending the bride as maid of honor was Miss Della Martens, sister of the groom; his brother, William, was best man. Another sister, Miss Mabel martens, and a sister of the bride, Mrs. Hubert Schmitz were groomsmen. White slipper satin was used to fashion the bride’s gown. A net yoke created an off the shoulder effect, and the hoop skirt ended in a long train. Her full length veil, with appliqués of satin hearts, was held in place by a beaded headdress, and she carried white gladioli and red roses, forming a cross. Dresses of yellow, green and orchid taffeta, with net yokes and hoop skirts, were worn by the maid of honor and the bridesmaids, and each carried a bouquet of roses and gladioli. Breakfast was served in the church dining hall immediately after the ceremony, and dinner at 4 o’clock in the same place. A reception at the bride’s home after the breakfast, and a dance at night in Walter’s Pavilion, Colby, were other features of the wedding celebration. Later the couple left on a trip to northern Wisconsin. Mr. Martens is engaged in farming, and his bride was formerly employed at the LeVielle Drug Store in Marshfield. |
