-----Horehled, Vivian Gertrude (September 10, 1919 - January 28, 2005)

Vivian Horehled, age 85, of Neillsville, died Friday, January 28, 2005, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Vivian Gertrude Beyer was born on September 10, 1919 in Neillsville, the daughter of William F. and Helen (Thoma) Beyer. She attended Hillside Grade School in the Pine Valley Township and graduated from Neillsville High School. After graduation she began working at the ASCS office, a department of Agriculture, now called Farm Service Agency. She worked there for several years, and she was also the bookkeeper for her father who was the town assessor for Pine Valley. Vivian was united in marriage to Ernest Horehled on September 19, 1940 in Neillsville at the Pine Valley Lutheran Church. They farmed for many years retiring in 1978 and selling their farm to their daughter Carol in 1983.

She was a member of the Pine Valley Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She loved to travel sometimes with her sister and other times with relatives and friends. She traveled throughout Europe several times and she also toured the United States and Australia. She loved gardening and she enjoyed going to Hardees for Bingo.

Vivian is survived by three daughters, Carol (Roger) Krause, of Markesan; Helen (Richard) McFarlane, of Gurnee, IL; and Joan Schlinsog, of Granton; six grandchildren, Allan Krause, Neil (Kathy) Krause, Michael Schlinsog, Clint (Susie) Schlinsog, Ronda Schlinsog and Megan Schlinsog; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian (Arvid) Berger, of Neillsville; and two brothers-in-law, Melvin Mech, of Wausau, and Warren Cattanach, of Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Alma Mech and a son-in-law, Kip Schlinsog.

A private family funeral service was held on Monday, January 31, 2005, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated. Music ws provided by Virginia Karnitz, organist and Jodi Rueth, soloist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket Bearers were: Allan Krause, Neil Krause, Gary Meihak, Clint Schlinsog, Michael Schlinsog and Gary Spiegel.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Vivian’s family with funeral arrangements.
