Thursday, 01 November 1888: The Seven-Day Adventists of Minnesota have organized a conference school in Minneapolis, the rules and regulations of which are rather interesting.

Nobody who uses profane or unbecoming language, who uses tobacco or intoxicating liquors or in any way immoral will be admitted.

Manual training will be on of the features, and tent making is mentioned as very pleasant as well as useful employment, to be taught.

It is also the plan to have the general domestic work of the school done by the students, and the work embraces dining-room, kitchen and laundry work, sawing and splitting wood, etc. Aside from the ordinary branches, physiology, civil government and algebra, are mentioned in connection with missionary and Sabbath school work, as a part of the course.

Another somewhat novel feature is that the young men, among other things, are required to proved themselves with flannel or colored shirts and with celluloid collars and cuffs, as linen shirts, cuffs, etc. will not be laundered at the school.

Such a program is not very alluring to the average young man or woman, but 60 of them are going to make a trail of it.

Thursday, 01 November 1888: In country affairs we have generally counseled voters to vote for the best men, without regard to party, this year, so far as qualifications is concerned we can see no good reason for democrats not voting for their own nominees.

They are all well qualified, in both Clark and Marathon counties.
