----Deutsch, Josephine (Marriage – 25 Aug. 1940)

The marriage of Miss Josephine Deutsch and William H. Conlee took place at 12:30 p.m., August 25, at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church.

The bride and groom, preceded by their attendants, Miss Betty Schmedel, Madison, and Aaron V. Kimball, Madison, marched down the center aisle of the auditorium to the strains of a wedding march, played by Miss Nancy Deutsch, a sister of the bride. Another sister, Mrs. Norman Larkin, sang “Because.” Rev. Wilson Bixler, who awaited the bridal party at the altar, performed the single ring ceremony amid a beautiful arrangement of gladioli and other seasonal garden flowers. Only the immediate relatives and a few close friends were present.

The bride was dressed in navy blue and white, with accessories to match, wearing a white and red shoulder corsage. Her attendant wore a mustard shade gown and black accessories, with a shoulder corsage.

Mrs. Conlee is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Deutsch of this city. She was born in Neillsville and has always made her home here. After she graduated from the Neillsville high school, she worked for a time at the Kearns drug store. For the past two years she has been employed at McCains, her sweet disposition and natural charm fitting her admirably for the position. The atmosphere in her home and the training she received there have been such as to prepare her for the new duties she assumes.

Mr. Conlee is the son of Harry B. Conlee, Oshkosh. He received his education in the high school and state teachers college in that city. He came to Neillsville in 1939, as an instructor in the high school, where he teaches mathematics and business economics. Mr. Conlee is a young man of fine presence, possessing the rare ability of making friendships. He will resume his teaching duties here next week.

The couple is taking a several day wedding trip to the Chain-o-Lakes. Returning to Neillsville on Labor Day, they will begin housekeeping in an apartment in the Mrs. M. Markham home.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Larkin, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Conlee, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Conlee, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bacon, and Miss Genevieve Block, all of Oshkosh. Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Kimball, Aaron V. Kimball, Miss Emily Kimball and Miss Betty Schmedel, all of Madison.
