-----Kinsey, Betty Gene (Marriage – 1940)

The marriage of Miss Betty Gene Kinsey, and John F. Kurasz, Chicago, took place recently at the home of the bride’s parents in Grand Haven, Mich.

Bouquets of larkspur, siringa and Madonna lilies formed a pretty setting for the wedding. The Rev. J. V. Roth performed the rites. Miss Kathryn Kinsey attended her sister, as bridesmaid and Mrs. Kenneth Bigh of White Cloud, acted as matron of honor. Mr. Bigh attended the groom and Russell Fischer served as the usher.

Mrs. Charles Davis played Lohengrin’s wedding march and “Apple Blossoms.” Mrs. Donald Cady sang “At Dawning,” and “Because.” Forty relatives and friends were present.

The bride wore a navy blue silk redingote over printed silk, with blue wide-brimmed hat to match and navy accessories. Her flowers consisted of pink rosebuds, gardenias and sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a gown of leaf-green silk jersey with white accessories. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas and carnations, the matron of honor carrying a similar bouquet.

After a reception at the home, the couple left on a trip into the Upper Peninsula. They are making their home in Chicago, where they groom is a salesman.

Mrs. Kurasz was chosen as Miss Grand Haven at the 1940 Blossom Festival. Since her graduation from high school, she had clerked in a bakery.
