Thurs., 5 Sept. 1940 ----Mabie, Adeline (Marriage – 1940) A very pretty wedding took place Sunday at 11:30 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mabie when their youngest daughter, Adeline, became the bride of Howard W. Berger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Berger of Carney, Mich. The bride was attired in a tailored suit of teal blue silk and wore a corsage of pink roses and baby’s breath. The brides-maid Miss Irene Mabie, sister of the bride, wore a gown of wine colored silk and wore a corsage of talisman roses and baby breath. The groom and his best man, Clarence Berger of Carney, Mich, were attired in dark suits and each had a boutonnière of roses. The ceremony was performed by Elder Paul Shepplar of Rockland. The marriage as the culmination of a school day romance during their attendance at Highland Academy at Rockwell, where they were pupils of Elder Shepplar. The bride’s mother wore black crepe with gold trimming, the groom’s mother wore brown silk and each had a corsage of American beauty rosebuds. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Don Mabie, sister-in-law of the bride, sang “Until” accompanied by Miss Louis Schoelter, sister of the bride, Chicago. Following the ceremony, dinner was served the guests by Mrs. Vera Kidd, a close friend of the family. The young couple left in the afternoon for a honey-moon trip to the northern lake region and to his former home in Carney, Mich. They will make their home in Detroit, Mich., where Mr. Berger has been employed for the past three years as a carpenter. Among the guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Berger and sons, Clarence and Ralph; Mr. and Mrs. Florian Berger and child, Carney, Mich.; Mrs. Louis Schuetter, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Don Mabie and son, Danny, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Loga and son, Ellwood; Miss Irene Mabie and Mary Jane Borden, La Grange, Ill.; Ernest Mabie, Detroit, Mich.; Elder and Mrs. Paul Shepplar, Rockland, and Mrs. Vera Kidd, Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Milo Mabie and daughter, Cheryl Ann, of Neillsville.
