WALTER, GEORGE

In November 1889, Mr. and Mrs. George Walter, Sr. came from Munich, Germany, and settled in Clark County in what is known as "Heintown". They left Germany with two sons, George and John, and Mrs. Walter's mother, Mrs. Magdalen Hoeser. After arriving, they cleared the land and built their log house, and supplies logs to the Hein Sawmill then went into dairy farming on 40 acres. Later they purchased 40 more acres.

To this family seven children were born - George, John, Mary, Joe, Louie, Anthony, and Ann. In 1936, Tony took over the management of the farm from his father. In 1937, Tony married Beatrice Buddinger of the Town of York. They continued dairy farming, adding another 40 acres purchased from William Benedict in 1953, which then supplied them with 120 acres of farming land. Many improvements were made to the farm.
