Obit: Helde, Andrew (1837? - 1887)
Surnames: HELDE Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 08/26/1887 Helde, Andrew (1837? - 19 AUG 1887) A man named Andrew Helde, living about two miles north of Sterling, Clark County, Wis., was found dead near the door of his shanty on Friday morning last by R. Perkins, who chanced to be passing while out hunting. The body was brought to this village and an inquest held at which very little of the man's history was discovered as he always lived alone and had no particular friends so far as anyone knew in this country. He was a Dane, apparently about forty-five or fifty years of age, owned 120 acres of land, on which his shanty was located, and in his pockets at the time was found $618.77 in cash and bank checks. His death was evidently caused by a paralytic stroke, having had one last winter when he went to the Eau Claire Hospital for treatment. He was in the village on Thursday, the day before, in an apparently hale and hearty condition. His remains were buried in the Thorp Village Cemetery. On Saturday morning last, no services being held. |
