On Saturday, Feb. 5, 1944 at 2:30 at the parsonage of Zion Reformed Church in Greenwood, occurred, the marriage of Shirley Ann Braun, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Braun and Irvin Gerald Humke, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Humke Sr. of The Town of Warner (Clark Co., Wis.), Rev. B.M. Fresenborg officiated.

The bride wore a light pink wool suit trimmed with orchid and wore brown accessories and a gardenia corsage.

She was attended by Miss Ruth Humke, sister of the groom, an maid of honor, who wore a brown suit trimmed in white, with a corsage of pink carnations and narcissi. Mrs. Robert Jackson, sister of the groom as bridesmaid, wore a blue suit with brown accessories and a corsage of pink carnations and narcissi.

The groom was attended by Arvin Liebzeit, cousin of the bride and Robert Jackson, brother-in-law of the groom. The groom and his attendants wore dark brown suits with white carnation boutonnieres.

The mothers of the bride and groom wore dresses of flowered silk jersey and blue silk, respectively, with shoulder corsage of yellow and red roses.

A 6:00 o’clock dinner was served to 35 immediate relatives and closest friends at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with pink, blue and white streamers and a large white wedding bell, and a large wedding cake was the centerpiece for the bride’s table. A dance was held at Merry Ol’ Gardens in the evening.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1941 and graduated from the Milwaukee Accredited School of beauty Culture at Eau Claire, and has been employed at the Barr Beauty Shop in Greenwood. The groom is a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the Class of 1942 and attended University of Wisconsin in Madison.

The groom is engaged in farming on his uncle’s farm.

The Gleaner joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for many years of happy married life.
