Obit: Mathison, Annie (1873 – 1944)
Surnames: MATHISON TUCKER UHRIE Source: Greenwood Gleaner (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) 10/12/1944 Mathison, Annie (10 FEB 1873 – 8 OCT 1944) Annie Tucker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tucker, was born Feb. 10, 1873 in Arlington, England and came to the United States in 1886 with her father and brothers. Her mother having passed awy in England. They resided in Ill. And came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1892. On Aug. 24, 1898 she was married to Henry Mathison. They lived on a farm east of Greenwood until 1931 when they moved to this city where they have since made their home. She passed away at her home here on Sunday morning, Oct. 8, 1944 following an extended illness. A number of years ago Mrs. Mathison united with the Methodist Church of Greenwood, and became quite an active member of the Ladies Aid until her illness. She was a regular attendant at the worship services and enjoyed the fellowship of the sanctuary. She is survived by her husband and one son, Chester of Milwaukee, a sister, Mrs. Mary Uhrie, Battle Creek, Mich., a brother, Fred Tucker, Argome, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Mary Mathison of Milwaukee. A daughter Eva preceded her in death in 1934 and a son died in infancy. Three brothers also preceded her in death, Geroge and James of this country and a brother in England. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 at her home and at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist Church, with Rev. A.J. Abbott officiating. She was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Geo. Haeuser and Mrs. Chal Perkins sang “In the Garden”, “Rock of Ages” and “Good Nigh and Good Morning,” accompanied by Mrs. John Meng. The pallbearers were John Wuethrich, Fred Heiking, Bob McConnell, Albert Shanks, Chester Shield and Elmer Johnson. |
