Lewan, Virginia G. (October 18, 1919 - February 17, 2007)

Virginia G. (Novak) Lewan passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, WI at the age of 87, on February 17, 2007 from heart failure. A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church, Junction, Town of Thorp with Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. with a 7:30 Rosary being recited at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI and from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel on Thursday. Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Virginia was born October 18, 1919 in rural Thorp, WI the daughter of George and Kathryn (Wincek) Novak. She was raised in the rural Thorp area with her half sister Frances, and six brothers and sisters: Anna, Eddy, Celia, Johnny, Bobby and Ruby. After attending Riverhead School through the 8th grade, Virginia spent a number of years in Chicago, IL working at various jobs before her marriage to Louis Lewan on July 25, 1945. She spent most of her married years in the rural Thorp area raising six children. She enjoyed farming, gardening and cooking, and especially being around children and animals.

Virginia is survived by her children: Jim Lewan of Thorp, WI; Dennis (Sue) Lewan of Simi Valley, CA; Alan Lewan of Thorp, WI; Janice (Curt) Stenz of Marathon, WI; Kim Lewan of Thorp, WI; and John Lewan of Westboro, WI, 15 grand-children and one great-grandchild, two sisters: Celia Samplawski of Stanley, WI and Ruby Kubista of Eagan, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis, brothers: Ed, John, and Bob Novak, and sister, Anna.
