Locals

Mr. and Mrs. Donald ? West of Minneapolis were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Smith at their cottage from Saturday until Monday. Mrs. West is Mrs. Smith’s sister.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chase, Fannie and Marjorie Chase and Lawrence Kutchera drove to Waupaca Sunday to get Mrs. Dora Chase, who spent a month with her sister and other relatives.

Du Wayne Carl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Carl of Greenwood underwent an appendectomy at the Neillsville hospital at 10:30 Monday night.

Sunday dinner guests at the A. Lichte home were Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Lichte and family of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. George Huebner and family of Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Drescher and family, and Mrs. Lydia Drescher, the occasion being a family reunion.

Miss Beatrice MacMillan leaves today (Thursday) for a visit with relatives at Lima, Ohio. Mrs. F. B. Wing of Abbotsford drove down this morning to get her mother, Mrs. Mary MacMillan, who ? visit in the Wing home during Miss MacMillan’s absence.

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Zimmer of Milwaukee spent the weekend with Mrs. Josephine Mahar, returning home Tuesday.

The Indian committee of the National Board of home Missions met Monday at the local Indian Mission School with Rev. Ben Stucki, superintendent of the institution, in its quarterly meeting. Those present were; Dr. T. Bolliger, Madison; Rev. A. G. Schmid, New Holstein; Rev. Walter J. Stuckey, La Crosse; and Rev. Wilson Bixler, Sauk City, Mrs. Schmid accompanied her husband and Mrs. Bixler and son, Johnnie also came with Rev. Bixler to spent the day with friends.

Mrs. Lyman Smith has been quite sick again the past week. Mr. Smith was home with his wife for several days.

Mrs. William A. Braun of Manitowoc was an over night visitor Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jess Scott, and family.

Miss Dorothy Rouse and her brother, Clarence, and his family, of Stevens Point, visited in Neillsville Sunday.

Mike Dorst of Granton cut his right hand badly in a corn binder at the Frank Tykac farm Friday. Several stitches were required to close the wound torn in the flesh at the back of his hand.

On Saturday, Mrs. Dorst accompanied Mrs. Phoebe Russeling of Eleva and others to Sheboygan County to attend the funeral of his wife’s brother, Maurice Clement, who was killed in an automobile accident near Oostburg, Wis. Mr. Clement also was a cousin of the late Mrs. John Pietenpol of Granton.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Vanderhoof of Marshfield called on Mrs. F. O. Balch Sunday.

A large group of relativeds from various parts of the state met at Waushara park at Wautoma Sunday for a reunion, enjoying a picnic dinner and supper and a day of visitng. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Winters, James Vincent and family, Irvin Stevens and children, Walter Moldenhauer and wife, Alfred Moldenhauer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Moldenhauer, all of the Neillsville and Granton communities. William Winters and Tony Meiheim and family, Tripoli; Arthur Lerenzen and family, Hea?ford Junction; Alton Mittlestadt and family, Mark Mittlestadt and Leon Winters, Milwaukee.

Otto Kuchera underwent a major operation at one a.m. Thursday at the Marshfield hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Percy Weaver and son of Dwight, Ill.; returned home Sunday after a week’s visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Weaver. The Weavers and their guests took a cottage near Butternut Wednesday where they enjoyed an outing until Saturday. They also had good success fishing.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gall, Miss Bertha Stelter and A. G. Gernardt of Owen drove to Paynesville, Minn.; Saturday to spend several days at the Leonard Garding home where Mrs. Gerhardt and son had spent the week. They all returned home Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Huebner and children of Winnebago, Minn., autoed up Saturday for a week’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lichte, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Drescher entertained the Huebner family and Mr. and Mrs. Lichte and sons for supper, Monday night.

Mrs. Herbert Radke spent the weekend at Altoona with her sister, Mrs. Hugh Stoffel. She also called on Mrs. J. C. Patterson.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson of Pasadena, Calif., called on Rev. and Mrs. H. E. Webster and family Sunday. Rev. Webster left that night for Crivitz, Wis., to do some work for his sisters, Mrs. McCoy.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Zimmer left Monday of Iola, Kansas, to spent two weeks with his sisters, Mrs. Roland Babcock and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Endel and baby who were visiting relatives here, and her mother. Mrs. Susie Thoma, left Monday for Eagle River to spend the week with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Garbisch, and family.

August Arndt came home Tuesday from Marshfield hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks.

V. Beilrud, a registered pharmacist, is working at the Kearns drug store this week while Charles Schroeder is taking his vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sackett have moved into the lower flat of the brick house on east Ninth Street. Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Marden have rented the upper flat.

The teachers and officers of that Congregational Sunday school will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harland Kintzle at 7 p.m. Friday to plan work for the year.
