Seelow, Lila (Marriage – 1 Nov. 1941)

The Zion Reformed church of Braun Settlement, near Greenwood, was the scene of a pretty wedding Saturday, November 1, when Miss Lila Seelow, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Seelow, Pine Valley, became the bride of Laroy Markham. The double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. P. H. Franzmeier, the witnessed by immediate relatives of the bride and groom.

The bride was attired in a gown of white slipper satin trimmed with lace inserts and fashioned in bodice style with square neckline, and a long train. Her long veil of tulle edged with Chantilly lace was held in place with a tiara of pearls. A necklace of pearls, a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and white satin slippers completed her costume.

The bridesmaid, Miss Eleanore Hanson, a close friend of the bride, wore a dress of aqua taffeta and fingertip veil of wine colored tulle, and white necklace.

Miss Berdella Seelow, a sister of the bride, was dressed in a gown of pink net and her fingertip veil was of pink tulle, and she wore a white pearl necklace.

Mrs. Truman Sullivan, a sister of the groom, was the other attendant and she chose a frock of light blue taffeta and veil of blue, and a blue necklace. The attendants of the bride all wore corsages of chrysanthemums.

Kenneth Seelow, brother of the bride, was the best man, the Earl Markham, the groom’s youngest brother, and his brother-in-law, attended the groom. All the men wore dark suits and boutonnieres of white chrysanthemums.

The mothers of the young couple wore black crepe dresses and the corsages were pink carnations.

After the ceremony the wedding party drove to Marshfield to have photographs made later going to the Seelow’s where a reception was held and dinner served to about 70 guests.

The home was decorated with white, aqua and pink streamers and baskets of white chrysanthemums. Waitresses were Misses Amber Northup, Elizabeth Embke and Martha Erpenbach.

Mrs. Markham was graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1941 and has since been employed in Milwaukee. Mr. Markham, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Markham of Grant, is employed at the Jewett and Sherman Company. They will make their home in Milwaukee.

Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Monte of La Crosse, aunt and uncle of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Markham, his brother, of Evanston, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Truman Sullivan, of Milwaukee; and Miss Eleanore Hanson, of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knoll, Jr., of the town of Fremont, and Mrs. Fred Seelow of Christie also attended the wedding.

In the evening a shower and dance for the bride and groom was given at the Silver Dome.
