Dorchester friends were greatly surprised and saddened when it became known about town that Mrs. Frank Habeck had passed away in St. Paul on Saturday. The remains were brought to the Fuchsgruber Undertaking Parlor Sunday morning and the funeral was held from the little White Church Monday, Sept. 23rd, at 2 o’clock, Rev. P. Walter officiating. Interment was in the cemetery south of the village (Memorial South) with Oscar Schroeder, Otto Grow, M.M. Leslie, John Mateofsky, Theo. Hoeft and Theo. Wehr?? Acting as pallbearers.

Margaret Girdwood was born in ??view, Canada, July 27th, 1861, and was 68 years, 1 month and 24 days of age at the time of death. She came to the United States in 1878 at the age of 17 years. The oldest settlers will remember the Girdwoods living southeast of town in the early days. In 1879 she was united in marriage to August Krouse of Little ??wamico and to them were born eleven? children, all of them surviving. They are Ferdinand of Forbs, ?, Robert of Dorchester, Mrs. Mateofsky of Abbotsford, Os? Of Chicago, Earl of Dorchester, Hannah Roos of St. Paul, Arthur? Of Athens, Oliver of Minneapolis, Alvin and Harvey of St. Paul, Mrs. Anthony Kraft of Neillsville. On Sept. 3rd, 1912, Mrs. Krouse was left a widow and in 1918 was married to Mr. Frank Habeck, who also survives her. The Krouse family moved to Dorchester in 1901 and Mrs. Krouse made it her home until about a year ago when she went to St. Paul for medical attention and on account of her illness the children living there insisted upon her staying where she would have the best medical attention. But in spite of all that, she ?? and about two months ago became seriously ill. Everything possible that medical care and love could do was done for her, but Saturday she slipped quietly away to be with her maker.

She is gone and the place that knew her, know her no more, but she will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was a good neighbor and friend and always tried to give a helping hand wherever she was needed. Always happy and cheerful and after talking with her life seemed more worth living.

She leaves, besides her children, ? grandchildren and three great-grandchildren to mourn her loss. We join the many friends in offer sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Those from away to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Anton Mateofsky and daughter, Evelyn, of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert ?man and family of Colby; Mrs. Anthony Kraft and daughter, Gladys, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Krouse and family, Mrs. Hannah and Harvey Krouse of St. Paul; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Krouse and family of Athens, and Mrs. Machalek and daughter of Philbrook, Minn.
