(8 Aug. 1930 – 31 Oct. 2005) Norma Mahl ABBOTSFORD - Norma M. Mahl, 75, Abbotsford, died Monday Oct. 31, 2005, at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family. Norma was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Chicago to Joseph and Margaret (Bonura) Glassie. Norma and William Mahl were married May 12, 1951. He died March 17, 1981. Norma was an opera singer in Chicago before her marriage. The couple moved to Owen from Illinois in 1970, then lived in Curtiss until 1985, when she moved to Abbotsford to care for her grandchildren. Norma is survived by her children, Sharon (Gary) Nuernberger, Medford, Michelle ( Dick) Lange, Colby, Dawn (Russ) Soyk, Abbotsford, Joseph Mahl, New Albin, Iowa, William (Rebecca) Mahl, Monette, Mo., and Robert (Mary) Mahl, Dorchester; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda (Fred) Czlapinski of Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Glassie, Waterloo, Iowa, and Charles (Mary) Glassie, Shaumburg, Ill.
