Harder, Alice M. (19 JAN 1906 – 17 JUN 1930)

Mrs. Paul Harder died at their farm home north of town (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.), Tuesday, June 17, 1930, at 4 p.m., of convulsions, after being ill just since 6 o’clock in the morning. She had a similar spell of longer duration six weeks ago and one two weeks ago. The third attack was fatal.

She was laid to rest this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Stetsonville Lutheran Church, Rev. Glaeser officiating, with Paul Harder’s brothers, William, Fred, Charles and Emil, and brother-in-laws, Fred Amacher and Fred Neidhold as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Stetsonville Cemetery.

Alice Marie Nixdorf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nixdorf, was born at their farm home Jan. 19, 1906 and was 24 years, 4 months and 28 days old at time of death. She spent all her days in Dorchester Country. She went to school here at the public school and thru part of high school, and was always beloved by her fellow classmates for her gentle manner and jolliness which made her a favorite with all who came in contact with her.

On June 2, 1926, she was united in marriage to Paul harder of Stetsonville at her home church in Dorchester. To them was born one daughter, Joyce, who will be two years old in July.

Alice carried into married life the same sweet manner, so that the four years together was not marred by one cross word, just joy and peace to remember for those left, which will grow dearer as the days go by. So if her life was short, it was truly like a benediction to those who knew and loved her. Her loveliness will live on in the lives of those who remain.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nixdorf, brothers Ed of Stetsonville, Herbert of Taylor and Clarence at home, and sister Elna at home were all at her bedside when she passed away. Only one sister, Nora (Mrs. Fred Neidhold) of Chicago didn’t reach here till after her death.

The Dorchester friends share in their sorrow for they, too, loved here and the sympathy of all is extended to these grief stricken ones in this deep sorrow. May God bless them and assuage their grief.
