Plockelman, Frederick (9 SEP 1857 – 11 MAY 1931)

The community was saddened this week to learn of the death of Frederick Plockelman, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Abegglen, at Stetsonville, Monday evening, May 11, 1931 at 11 p.m.. He had been ailing for the past few years and although death was not a severe shock, his children will greatly miss him. Funeral services were held yesterday from St. Peter Lutheran Church with Rev. Brandt officiating.

Frederick Plockelman was born Sept. 9, 1857, in the town of Gipson, Manitowoc Co., Wis., and died at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 2 days. He grew to young manhood there and on May 29, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Wilsing, who preceded him in death three years ago. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) country where they resided until several years ago when Mr. Plockelman erected a new home here in town. Soon after Mrs. Plockelman’s death, Mr. Plockelman went to live with his son, Ben, until recently when he moved to his daughter’s home.

To the happy couple, 13 children were born, 2 who preceded their mother in death. There are seven sons, Carl, John, Frank, Otto, Ervin, Ben, and Henry of Dorchester and vicinity, and four daughters, Mrs. John Dorn of Milwaukee, Mrs. Emil Gaebler of Sheboygan, Mrs. Albert Abegglen of Stetsonville, and Mrs. Elmer Koehn of Dorchester. Besides these Mr. Plockelman leaves 32 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn.

A pioneer of this country, Mr. Plockelman did all he could to improve his land and became one of the community’s successful farmers. He was of a pleasant nature and was well liked by all who knew him. Needless to say he will be greatly missed by all. The Clarion joins the many friends in offering the children their sincere and heartfelt sympathy.
