Obit: Brecke, Mabel (1915 – 1931)
Surnames: BRECKE POPE Source: WEEKLY CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 07/24/1931 Brecke, Mabel (2 JUN 1915 – 21 JUL 1931) Friends were greatly saddened to learn of the death of Miss Mable Brecke, who passed away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Brecke, Tuesday, after a lingering illness of three years duration. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the Little White Church at 2:30 with Rev. Lester Thiel officiating, and burial will take place in the Memorial Cemetery. Mabel Brecke was born at the farm home June 2, 1915, and was 16 years, 1 month and 19 days old at the time of death. She grew to childhood on the farm, attending country school, graduating from the eighth grad there. The following fall she enrolled as a student of the Dorchester High School, but illness prevented her from finishing. While in school, she became known by her classmates as a loveable, quiet, charming young lady. Her clean ideals, ambitious nature and intelligence served to bring her a host of friends, who shall greatly miss her ready smile. Not only to outsiders, but to her home folks did she endear herself and they shall feel the lack of her presence after the first wounds of sorrow have passed. During her illness, Mabel’s folks did all that was possible to do for her but medical aid failed to save her and she passed on in the prime of youth. She leaves to mourn her loss her father and mother, two sisters, Norma and Mary Lou, two brothers, Edward and Allen LaNae ( In the 7/31 paper a correction was made that the last name should have been Ellen LaNae), and her grandmother, Mrs. E.F. Pope. The Clarion joins the host of friends in offering sincerest sympathy to the mourning ones. |
