Surnames: FENSKE MILLER METCALFE Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.)05/08/1937 Fenske, Edna (Marriage - 1 MAY 1937) Miss Edna Fenske, youngest daughter of Mr. And Mrs. August Feske (Fenske), and Roy Miller, youngest son of Herman Miller, both of this vicinity, were united in marriage on Saturday, May 1st, at the Reformed church in Humbird. The Rev. V. D. Weidler read the single ring ceremony. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin’s “Bridal Chorus,” played by Mrs. R. A. Creviston, and Mrs. W. E. Waters sang “Oh Promise Me,“ before the ceremony. The bride was gowned in white satin, make ankle length, with long sleeves, and wore a long veil. She carried an arm bouquet of talisman roses and sweet peas. The bride was attended by Miss Florence Metcalfe, niece of the groom, who wore a rose colored gown and carried an arm bouquet of yellow daffodils. The groom was attended by Mr. Raymond Fenske, brother of the bride. They both wore the conventional blue, and wore white carnations in their lapels. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and supper was served to about forty guests. In the evening a dancing party was held at the Odd Fellows hall in Humbird. Out of town guests present at the ceremony included: Mr. And Mrs. Clarence Miller, of South Wayne; Mr. And Mrs. John Fenske of Madison; Mrs. And Mrs. Herman Fenske, Vernon and Miss Elizabeth Meyers, of Loganville; Mr. And Mrs. Ed Hanusa and two sons, of Reedsburg; Mrs. Eli Metcalfe, son Elon, and daughter Dorothy, of Osseo; Miss Hazel Simonson, of Wouth Wayne; Mrs. Thos. Kelly and Miss Genevieve Linster, of Neillsville; Mr. And Mrs. Jos. Kurasz, Mr. Steve Harrington, Mis Ida Fenske, of Eau Claire; Mr. And Mrs. Fred Scholze and family, of Sparta. Both young people are well known in the vicinity, both being graduates of Humbird high school, the groom in the class of 1929, and the bride in the class of 1936. They will reside on the farm east of town. |
