Crandell, Neva (Marriage – 4 Aug. 1938)

A very pretty wedding service performed in the Methodist Church was witnessed by friends and relatives of the bridal couple, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, August 4, when Miss Neva Crandell, of Black River Falls, was united in marriage to Earl A. Langworthy, of this place. While the wedding party was assembling in the vestibule, Dr. Harold Langworthy, uncle of the groom, sang, “Song is Sweet.”

As the first strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march, played by Mrs. Walter Smith, aunt of the bride, pealed forth, the bride’s four attendants entered the church. They wore floor length gowns in pastel shades of peach, yellow and aqua. Miss Ethel Langworthy, sister of the groom and maid of honor, was gowned in peach silk marquisette and Miss Geraldine Smith in yellow silk chiffon, both with green accents. Miss Marjorie Russell and Miss Hilda Laffe wore aqua silk chiffon with peach accents. The young ladies wore corsages of white carnations and garden flowers.

The ushers followed immediately and took their places opposite the young ladies. They were Everett Zimmerman, of Black River Falls, Alvin Bryner, and Bernard Scheffer. Kenneth Nibbe was the groom’s best man.

The bride entered on the arm of her father, who gave her away in marriage. She wore a gown of while silk net over white taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet made up entirely of yellow roses, her favorite flower. Her finger tip veil was held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms.

The nuptial vows were read by the Rev. Floyd Fahlgren, using the single ring ceremony, and Dr. Langworthy sang, “I Love You Truly,” while the wedding party was still at the altar.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy N. Crandell, in Black River Falls.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl R. Langworthy, of Houghtonburg. Both of the bride and groom are graduates of the Humbird High School. They will make their home in Hixton after Sept. 1st, where the groom has employment in a barber shop.

Hall; Mrs. G. Hall, Augusta; Mrs. Jas Sneen, Mrs. Alexander Ward, Eau Claire, and Mr. Hugh Davidson, of Black River Falls.
