Every wedding anniversary celebrated by family and friends is always the happiest for the principal participants, and the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hart, last Monday was no doubt one of the happiest of the two dozen or more like events held in this community in the past number of years.

During the afternoon a reception was held at the fine residence of the family, and nearly one hundred guests paid their respects to the bride and groom. All were served with dainty refreshments by the young folks. The home and lawn were prettily decorated in gold colors. In the evening a seven o’clock dinner was served, twenty-eight members of the family and relatives being present. Two fine wedding cakes graced the tables, one of them being a gift from the baking company whose wares are sold at Hart Store.

Mr. and Mrs. Hart received many nice gifts and congratulatory messages on this memorable occasion.

Fifty years ago, Sept. 5, 1888, a young bride to be, it was her fourteenth birthday, and the affable young groom, just into his nineteenth year, stood before Deacon C. B. Travis and repeated the marriage vows of the Methodist church, and throughout all the intervening years health, happiness, and prosperity have reigned supreme upon the new home founded at that time.

Mr. Hart’s native place is Castleton, Ontario, coming to this section in 1886. He worked in Water’s mill and in the logging camps, which was the predominating industry in those days. Mrs. Hart was born on a farm near Fairchild, her parents being of the old pioneer families. Since their marriage their home has been in Humbird and vicinity. For a while they were on a farm; then Mr. Hart engaged in the meat market business, which was hi trade or profession. This has been his line ever since. After running a shop here for a while, the family moved to Warrens, and then to Granton, returning here after a period of years, in 1914, to make their permanent home. Mr. Hart retired from active work in the business a few years ago.

The family of Mr. and Mrs. Hart consists of three children, two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Chapel, of Marshfield; Mrs. Leland Davis, of Neillsville, and one son, Roy A. who is engaged in the business here. The number three runs proximately in the Hart family. All their children are married and each has three children; and then to date there are three great-grandchildren. All were present at the dinner party Monday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Hart yet retrain their youthful activities in local affairs. They enjoy good health, go fishing occasionally, visit at the homes of their daughters, and find pleasure mingling with their many friends, here and elsewhere.
