Laabs, Olive #2 (13 SEP 1932)

A beautiful and quiet wedding took place at the Evangelical Community Church at Medford Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 when Miss Olive L. Laabs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Laabs, Dorchester, became the bride of Mr. Harold C. Klessig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Klessig, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.). Rev. Jurdane R. Kalwitz performed the ceremony.

The bride was tastily attired in a brown chiffon velvet formal gown, form fitted with flare skirt and short ruffled sleeves. A brown hat of the same material, brown suede gloves and slippers with hose to match completed the costume. She carried a shower bouquet of roses and baby breath. Her attendants, Misses Fern Laabs, her sister, and Pauline Boohr, wore identical gowns of maroon chiffon velvet with hats, brown suede slippers and gloves and hose to match, and carried arm bouquets of roses and baby breath.

The groom wore a brown suit and his attendants, Wm. Klessig, his brother, and Norbert Laabs, brother of the bride, wore dark blue suits. Mrs. Albert Pries played the Lohengrin Wedding March as the processional took place. During the ceremony Miss Delores Thielke, Medford, sang two soprano solos, “I Love You Truly” and “At Dawning.”

Immediately after the ceremony wedding pictures were taken at the Dake Studio at Medford and at 5:00 o’clock a wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents with covers laid for about 50 guests. In the evening a free wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s Park at Colby. Hrunek’s Orchestra furnished music during the dinner hour and at the dance.

Both of the happy couple are well and favorably known by our readers, who join us in wishing them many years of happiness and prosperity in life’s journey. Mr. Klessig is employed as a cheesemaker.
