Obit: Galster, Frank (1874 – 1939)

Sat., 13 May 1939 Galster, Frank (26 Feb. 1874 – 18 April 1939) Frank Galster, son of Mr. Adrain and Mrs. Mary Galster, was born Feb. 26, 1874, at Black River Falls, Wis., and passed away of heart failure at the age of 65 years, on April 18, 1939. He was baptized in the Catholic, but later became a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Galster was employed as a blacksmith during his prime years, later moving on the Price and Bright farm at Hixton. He moved to South Dakota in 1911 and took up farming in eastern McPherson county. He served as a member of the Farmers’ elevator board for twelve years, held office as member of the township board twenty-two years and as a member of the board of education fifteen years. Mr. Galster was highly respected by everyone who knew him. To his family he was a loving husband and a good father and provided for his children. He became ill six years ago, but never complained, willing to bear his own suffering, thus making life more pleasant for his family. On August 28, 1912, he united in marriage with Mrs. Alice Blair. Mourning his untimely passing are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Florence Krien of Leola; and one step-son, Miles Blair, of Aberdeen; Lilas and Harlan Krien. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, while one brother, George Galster of Alma Center, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Libby Green, of Hixton, Wis., are mourning his loss. Other survived are thirty-two nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Funeral services were held in Leola, S. D., at the Methodist church, by Rev. W. S. Palmer at 2:00 o’clock, Friday afternoon, April 21. Burial was made in the Leola Green Court Cemetery. Distant relatives attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Miles Blair, Aberdeen, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Galster and son and Mrs. Anna Galster, of La Crosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. George Galster and family of Alma Center, Wis.; and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Green, of Hixton, Wis. - Leola South Dakota Herald. |
