Hardrath, Bertha (Marriage - 9 Nov. 1946)

St. John’s Lutheran Church at Riplinger was the scene of a pretty candle light wedding when Miss Bertha Hardrath, daughter of Mrs. Anna Hardrath, Riplinger, exchanged vows with Henry Kuesel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuesel, Spring Valley. The marriage service was read Nov. 9th at 4 p.m. by Rev. August Quandt before the altar, glowing with lighted tapers and flanked with baskets of yellow chrysanthemums.

Miss Carol Mae Gloff played a prelude of music for the ceremony and the wedding marches, Orville Rex, baritone soloist, sang “O Perfect Love.”

The bride, given in marriage by her youngest brother, Walter Hardrath, wore an ivory velvet gown styled with a sweetheart neckline with rhinestone clips at either side, long sleeves coming to points over the wrists, and a full skirt ending in a train. Her finger tip veil was caught to a beaded tiara and her pearls were a gift from the groom. The shower bouquet she held was composed of deep red roses in a lime green net. According to tradition, she, too, wore something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

Mrs. Bernard Seefeldt, Marshfield, a sister of the bride, wearing pastel pink taffeta and a matching blusher veil, was matron of honor. Mrs. Jesse Peterson, Woodville, a sister of the groom, in a blue taffeta and ninon frock, was bridesmaid. Both carried colonial bouquets of mums and roses tied with matching ribbons.

Little Fern Hardrath, a niece of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore a frock of yellow dotted net over satin and carried a colonial nosegay. Roger Seefeldt, the bride’s nephew, carried the rings on a velvet pillow.

Bernhard Seefeldt was best man and Jesse Peterson served as groomsman. Hebert Seefeldt and Carl Hardrath, nephews of the bride, ushered.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Hardrath chose a violet crepe dress, Mrs. Kuesel, the groom’s mother, wore black with matching accessories. Their corsages were of roses.

After the wedding ceremony, supper was served to 60 guests at the Hardrath home. The table was decorated with long yellow, pink and blue streamers and centered with a wedding cake and tall candles.

After a week’s honeymoon to parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota, they will reside with the bride’s mother.
