Garber, Mayme (11 Sept. 1892 – 3 April 1940)

Funeral services for Mrs. Emil J. Garber, who died suddenly following a major operation at an Eau Claire Hospital Wednesday morning of last week, were held Saturday forenoon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altoona, the Rev. Fr. John Schulte officiating. Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Relatives from here attending were her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Harris, and children, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Winscher, Louis Garber, Mr. and Mrs. Will Garber and son, Alvin Garber, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bryner and son Alvin; and Miss Anna Theis. Mrs. Garber was a member of Syringa camp of the Royal Neighbors of this village, and the following members of the camp attended the burial service: Mrs. Lastofka, Mrs. Hemmy, and Mrs. Houghton, Mrs. Geo. Woodford, Mrs. Harry Hart, Mrs. Simons, Mrs. W. Rosolack, Miss Zerbel.

Miss Mayme Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Harris, was born on a farm in the town of Cleveland, Sept. 11, 1892. She was united in holy wedlock with Emil Garber, on Dec. 26, 1910. To this union one son, Elmer, was born. Their home was on a farm in this vicinity for a few years, and then moved to Altoona, which city has since been their home.

Mrs. Garber is survived by her husband and son; her father, who is now a resident of Altoona; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Helmecke, Tacoma, Wash.; and Mrs. Barbara Buchholz, Altoona; and five brothers, John T., and Henry, Altoona; Paul, Grant’s Pass., Ore.; Edwin, Humbird and Nick, Eau Claire.

She attained the age of 47 years, 6 months and 16 days.
