Obit: Roehl, Derek (1998 – 2007)
Surnames: ROEHL WEBER GARDNER BEHNKE Source: Loyal TRG 21 March 2007 Roehl, Derek (5 JUL 1998 – 16 MAR 2007) On March 16, 2007, another angel was called home. Derek Roehl was raised up to the heavens and reunited with his sister, Jordyn, where they have joined together and became the guardian angels for their family here on earth. Memorial services were held on March 20, 2007, at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Daryn Sahn officiated. A memorial service was also held on March 21, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Derek was sent to Dennis and Julie (nee Weber) Roehl on July 5, 1998. It was very clear that the angels had blessed him, for their kisses created the dimples we all so much. While on earth, he was raised on his family’s farm in Loyal and enjoyed time with his sister, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended school in Loyal, Neillsville and Greenwood. After his move to Nebraska, he attended Howard Elementary, Fremont. He enjoyed bumming at the Omaha Zoo, visiting the pumpkin patch, and loved being out and about. Visiting family and friends was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved to be outside sitting in the sun or feeling the wind or rain on his face. On hot days, you would find him lounging in the pool surrounded by family and friends. His dog, Ressel, was always able to bring on excitement and laughter from Derek. Delight could be seen in his face while being sung to as he tapped out the rhythm of a song. His smile was the most beautiful sight and his giggle was so contagious you couldn’t help but to laugh along with him. He is a hero to all of us no matter what the road of life was like for him, he pulled through it all and taught us what true strength really is. Derek will be sadly missed by his parents , Dennis (Sue) Roehl, Loyal, and Julie (Tye) Gardner, Fremont, Neb., his brother, Devon Roehl; and his sister, Ava Gardner; grandparents, Lowell and Velora Roehl, Loyal, and Jerry and Ruth Weber, Marshfield; step-grandparents, Irene Gardner, Marshfield, and Ted and Diane Den Otter, Athens; great-grandmother, Velda Behnke, Marshfield; aunts and uncles, Susan (Paul) Brostowitz, Loyal, Sandy (Chris) Harder, Chippewa Falls, and Kristin (Luke) Smith, Neillsville; cousins; and many other loving relatives and friends. Preceding him in death was his sister, Jordyn, on Jan. 12, 2005, and grandparents, Art Behnke, Russell and Frieda Roehl, and Merlin Gardner. Memorials may be designated in Derek’s name to Children’s Miracle Network. Rembs-Kundinger Funeral Home and Cuddie Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. |
