Dietsche, John (23 FEB 1877 – 10 SEP 1938)

John Dietsche passed away at his farm home in the Town of Sherman Clark county Saturday evening at 8:45. Mr. Dietsche was born in Manitowoc county on Feb. 23, 1877 and died Sept. 10, 1938 at the age of 61 years, 7 months, 13 days. He came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Dietsche to Clark county at the age of 11 months, where he has been a life-long resident.

August 20, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Yates. He lived on the present farm 24 years. Born to this union were thirteen children, one little daughter dying in infancy.

Four years ago he entered the Madison hospital where he underwent a serious operation for carcinoma from which he had not fully recovered.

Mr. Dietsche served as assessor for the Town Of Sherman for three years after his operation. He was quite active at that being around visiting among his neighbors the day of his death. Left to mourn his death besides his wife and aged mother Mrs. Marguerite Dietsche of Abbotsford are six sons Wallace, Alpheus, Allen, John Jr., and David of Sherman, Paul of Medford, and six daughters, Mrs. William Kayhart (Naomi), Lillian of Sherman, Mrs. Gustave Pischer (Lauretta) of Lindsey, Mrs. Ernest Karau (Marion), Mrs. Carl Hoff (Katherine) of Spencer, Mrs. Joseph Hoffman (Rose) of Milwaukee. Three brothers Fred of Abbotsford, Ben of Riplinger, Frank of Sherman and two sisters Mrs. Joseph Davel, Loyal and Mrs. Wm. Brill of Cherokee and ten grand children also survive, besides a host of friends.

Funeral services were held in the Burial Association funeral home in Spencer at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1938, Rev. George Carver officiating, with interment in the West Spencer cemetery.
