Alvin C. Krueger

COLBY -- Alvin C. Krueger, 84, of Colby, died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery with full military rites by Colby VFW Post 2227. The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home, Colby, and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Alvin was born Feb. 11, 1923, to Charles and Mary (Glenzer) Krueger in the town of Green Grove. He graduated from Colby High School in 1941. Alvin served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. Alvin and Marion Gosse were married Sept. 6, 1947. When they first married, he did cement work, after which they farmed in the town of Colby. They moved to the city of Colby in 1976, and he ran the fertilizer plant for Harmony Co-op. After retiring, he worked Larry Oehmichen Short Lane Ag Supply.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served on the church board and was a lifetime member of Colby VFW Post 2227. Alvin enjoyed planting a vegetable garden and giving produce away, loved playing cards and helping to make quilts and lap robes for charity. He also enjoyed his cottage at Lake Mead with his wife and grandchildren.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Marion Krueger of Colby; one son, Charles (Scheree) Krueger of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Nikalas and Daccia Krueger; and one sister, Hazel (Herman) Gosse of Colby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Benny Krueger; one sister, Edna Krueger; and three half brothers, Albert, Ernest and Oscar Laabs.
