Feb. 1997 Mellenthin, Norman F. (2 Feb. 1915 – 11 Feb. 1997) Spencer – Norman F. Mellenthin, 82, of 805 E. Hemlock St., Spencer, died at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 11, 1997, at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Riplinger. The Rev. David Ault will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at Community Funeral Home, Spencer. Mr. Mellenthin was born Feb. 2, 1915, in the town of Unity in Clark County, to Frank and Adelia (Schneider) Mellenthin. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1933. He married Eleanor Edblom on Dec. 12, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. He farmed in the town of Unity until retiring in 1982. He then sold the farm to his son, Douglas, and moved to Spencer. He had been a resident of the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen since 1989. He served on the Board of Directors for the town of Unity, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Riplinger, Clark Electric in Greenwood from 1976 to 1983 and A.S.C.S. Farm Bureau from 1968 to 1977. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Mellenthin; his children, Karen (Dennis) Larson of Winter Park, Colo., Nancy (Ronald) Dietsche of Spencer and Douglas (Lou Ann) Mellenthin of Spencer; four grandchildren, Tammi (Mike) Schiferl of Marshfield. Jodi Dietsche of Marshfield, Lori Larson of Denver and Linda (Scott) Chisholm of Roselle, Ill.; one great-grandchild, Ben Chisholm; and one sister, Erna Singstock of Wausau. He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Lloyd, Harold and Donald. |
