Campbell, Vera (Marriage – 7 Nov. 1936)

Miss Vera Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Campbell, and Mr. Clarence Jinkerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Jinkerson, both of the town of Mentor, were united in marriage at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Nov. 7, 1936, at the Methodist Church in Humbird, the Rev. Floyd Fahlgren officiating. Miss Eileen Creviston played the wedding march, and Wayland Waters accompanied Miss Creviston on the piano, as she sang, “I Love You Truly.”

The bride was attired in a floor length gown of white satin and all over lace, with white accessories, and a bridal veil. She carried an arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums and pink carnations. Mrs. Bernard Haza, of Wisconsin Rapids, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Walter Cooper, of Merrillan, sister of the groom, attended the bride. Both were dressed in fern green silk crepe dresses and had shoulder sprays of daisies and snap dragon. Little Betty June Fitzmaurice, cousin of the bride, acting as flower girl, was dressed in white and carried a basket of white chrysanthemums.

The groom was attended by his brother, Virgil Jinkerson, of Humbird and Vernon Campbell, twin brother of the bride. All three wore navy blue suits and white carnations lapels.

After the wedding a supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents, for the bridal party, the Mmes, Fitzmaurice assisting, after which a joyous wedding dance was given at the town hall, and was attended by many relatives and friends, all of whom joined in wishing the newly wedded couple happiness and prosperity and through life. Mr. and Mrs. Jinkerson will be at home in Wisconsin Rapids, where the groom has employment.

A wedding shower was given in honor of the bride and groom by Mrs. Wm. Hardwick and Mrs. R. S. Jinkerson at the home of Mrs. Hardwick on Nov. 8th. There were seventy-four people present to enjoy the good time and partake of a bountiful basket lunch. Many were the presents, beautiful and useful bestowed upon the bride at this gathering.

WEDDING GUESTS INJURED

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob N. Lightfoot and the latter’s mother, Mrs. Orby Bronell, were injured in a crash near Eau Claire, where they reside, about 2:30 Sunday morning. They were returning home after attending the Jinkerson-Campbell wedding dance, and in attempting to pass another car, their car skidded and tipped over. The car is a complete wreck and those riding were all injured and taken to the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lightfoot were discharged the next day, but Mrs. Bronell is yet a patient. Two other cars were mixed in the crash and were somewhat damaged, but no other injuries were reported.
