Editors Times: Again we have to chronicle cold and wet weather. The log drives who hung up a week ago for want of water are all out again. Pat Sheean, drive master of Black River from Hemlock to Neillsville, stated with a crew of men Thursday from the north terminus of his beat and reports a fine drive today, Friday.

L. Rossman, general superintendent of the business affairs of the driving association from Delles to Hemlock, has been in town and vicinity for several days past in the interest of the association. His continued engagement with the company, at a large salary, is ample evidence that his work is done well and his services appreciated. As he now makes his home at the Dells, and not knowing whether he will ever return to live in Greenwood or not, he offers his fine residence in this village for sale, together with one of two lots. It is a desirable piece of property and for further particulars enquire of the owner or A. S. Eaton.

Phil Rossman will commence his dam across Rock Creek next Monday. It is a dam for which he received a charter from the legislature last winter to build, maintain and receive tollage for all logs passing through said dam.

Wm. Free will have a small force of men at Hemlock all summer for work appertaining to the Driving Association’s interests.

J. C. Vine is back from Dakota. He had a severe attack of sickness while there, but is somewhat recovered now. He has abandoned his stave bolt job which he commenced two miles west of our village.

Jas. O’Neill and R. F. Kountz, of Neillsville, are up from the city on business.

W. H. Begeley will take possession of his hotel on Monday next, and cater once again, as of old, to the wants of the traveling public. We are glad to see him back again at the old stand.

W. C. Cornick’s lease year having expired in the Begley house, Mr. Cornick now intends to engage in the livery business.

N. H. Withee, our county treasurer, passed up through town this week to look after his interests northward.

Dr. Thomas has purchase a new top buggy for $150. It is nice and easy riding.

We learn that Len Eastman is about to add to his growing business a stock of farm and lumber wagons and buggies, so he can supply the growing demand for that class of goods in this community.

A man from Washburn’s mill town 28, 2 west, was down here a few days ago, and had a finer amputated by Dr. Thomas. Amputation was made necessary by its being cut with a saw.

S. P. Jones and the insurance man, E. D. Cheney, have been in town this week.
